Hey, funny thread, here’s a general stigma thrown onto Whites which quickly falls apart under simple thought.

    .. White people can’t Jump…. .. ?!

Ridiculous really when you consider Parkour/Freestyle is almost an exclusively White recreation!

When I traveled (backpacker circuit in South America), the Americans were always very low key and wanting to blend in. On the other hand Canadians were very loud and obnoxious, and especially wanted to make everyone know that they were NOT Americans. It may be because I didn’t go to major tourist locations so saw a different crowd.

‘Hi. How are you?’ lol. Now that’s so true. It’s being ingrained in my DNA as I speak. On all the other ZOG owned dating sites, some women put that they’ve heard that so much they tell you to not say that to them. 🙂 What breaks our hearts now, especially for ‘our’ side, is that we’ve pulled back from our natural, friendly actions of saying that to people because of the social war going on. Most, as you know, have gone along with the crap, so they are my enemy and I don’t feel like saying that to them anymore. Everything was truly better before this. I still try to be happy, make jokes, tell funny stuff about me and others to my friends and family, and make us all laugh it up. But the world certainly isn’t geared to help me with that anymore. 🙁 But as for Canadiens, you are correct. They are really more trusting and friendly than Americans. When my friend went there, he thought the guy driving next to him might have been out to harm him because he was flashing his lights, etc. But when they both rolled down the windows, he said, ‘I just want to let you know you have a taillight out, eh?’ Hahaha. That’s how nice and awesome they are. And I don’t want to think what the world government has done to their society now, either. The news is, and especially was, all national, all right. ‘The greatest country in the world.’ But thank you for this. I guess you are correct more than I thought and thanks for reminding me about this. Now, we’ve been so sheltered here but do you know of any other stereotypes, especially of your own Croatia?

Haha it’s all anecdotal I know, but “IRL Americans” have been vastly superior to “Internet Americans” so far. I guess it could be because IRL Americans I’ve interacted with were mostly white, while Internet Americans could have been any race.

I think the media not letting us know too much of how the rest of the world

I have been told this before by other Americans, that the newspapers/news broadcasters are very focused on national coverage and have very low interest in covering foreign happenings. In Euroland, wherever you are, you get USA, Germany, France and UK coverage on top of regular national news. Lately there’s Chinese and MENA news as well.

    @Faustus
Really? I’ve interacted with fewer Canadians than Americans, but overall they seemed quieter than Americans. Both groups were polite, and neither one was particularly ignorant for being foreigners.

Both Canadians and Americans were more eager to strike up a conversation compared to other Europeans. Ex: Germans and French just do their business and go, Canucks and ‘muricans laugh, make jokes, laugh some more, tell you about a funny thing they saw, ask how your day went etc…
It’s funny how they always ask “Hi! How are you?” to random people. Love ’em.

I’ve found Canadians to more closely meet the stereotype of Americans.

hehe. This is an funny topic that you bring up. Actually, after the rain, I’ll have to disagree with you this time. I think all 5 of those stereotypes are true, or at least were. I’m not offended by it. I can admit the truth. That’s how it was, all right. I know a lot of people when I was growing up sure were that way. I didn’t totally think it was right, but then again, I was even like that. lol! A big part of that had to do with enjoying our life we had here PLUS I think the media not letting us know too much of how the rest of the world was. I could be wrong on that latter part, however, because 1) I was young and wouldn’t be into the news, and 2) I personally chose not to listen to the news for the longest time. But that is funny. Thank you for the laughs and the memories!

Have you ever travelled abroad, or met foreigners and found out stereotypes about their nationalities were completely false?

    I’ll start with my favourite…

Americans: loud, aggressive, ignorant about other cultures, overbearing, easily offended.
I cannot being to explain how much this is not true. Working with ‘muricans has been an absolute pleasure.
Maybe the “loud” part is a bit true, but it is because they are high-energy people. Always laughing happily and being positive and doing stuff and getting shit done.
They make fun of themselves a lot, both on a personal level and on a national level. Children were so polite and behaved too.

I realise people who can afford to travel for leisure tend to be upper class and thus not reflective of average American behaviour, but still I have found none of the flaws attributed to “ignorant rich privileged white Americans” either.

    Other stereotypes about wypipo?
