Thank you 8bitalchemist. Those are all great recommendations.
Faun is great. Tinta is one of my favorites and usually shuffles through my iHeart playlist once a day.
After The Rain: Krisgaldr is one of my favorite songs to play when I lift.
Anything by Danheim, Hoven Droven, or Wardruna will usually get my blood moving, especially Runaljod by Wardruna…that’s like my ultimate deadlift max-out song.
Great thread!
Bumping this because the post I made isn’t listed as awaiting moderation, but hasn’t gone up the posting list yet.
FAUN is great, Heilung is one of my top favorites both in neofolk, & in general. Danheim is also in the neofolk family, & while I don’t think they can hold a candle to Heilung, they’re still great for more ambient type tracks.
Dzivia – Dzikaje PalavaÅ„nie (Wild Hunt) Belarusian
Kati Ran – Suurin (with Kai Uwe Faust & Maria Franz/Heilung)
Grimfrost Presents: UR IS KA HA SO
Laboratorium PieÅ›ni – Sztoj pa moru (Што й па мору)
Polyphonic group from Poland.
“Yagudky” – DakhaBrakha Ukrainian folk group.
KŪLGRINDA – Chants to Lithuanian Gods
This is by a Faroese artist called EIVOR – Trollabundin – EIVOR
Most of her work is more pop-oriented, but this track has the whole primal neofolk thing going on. Might appeal to some here.
I’ve recently discovered them and giving a listen to their songs both old and new, though I seem to like their older material more.
I especially like this one, sounds like it could be Cornish folk music.
Another VERY pagan band is Heilung, whose visuals are top notch. They get labelled as “viking music” but I don’t see that, their style seems to predate viking culture by a lot.
Fylgija Ear / Futhorck LIVE (I love how she does the runes with the antlers whiel he recites the futhark)
Krigsgaldr LIVE
The second band I wanted to post is Wardruna, and even though they composed part of the OST of the pozzed Vikings show, don’t throw the baby out with the bathwater, their music is pretty solid.
Hi Ladies and Gentlemen, I’d like to introduce those of you not already familiar with them, to the German Pagan band “FAUN”.
They make wonderful music with the use of ancient instruments. And the songs’ lyrics (in German) are always deep and refined.
Give them a try and then post your impressions here 🙂 And spread the word in real life.
Feel free to suggest other traditional singers/bands for everyone to listen to.
