I’m glad you mentioned these. I love classical music and I certainly have some specific faves, but it’s nice to have something a bit more substantial recommended for me to sink my teeth into. Other than the standard generic popular stuff! Of COURSE, whenever anyone asks me who my favorite European artist is, I say………..lol

Well, not being tech-savvy none of the images showed up. Sorry about that, I simply don’t know how to use the “img” icon correctly.

If you could only grab a few classical discs or sets, what would you choose? The first thing I’d grab is the 22 disc set from the Berlin Philharmonic: “Wartime Recordings 1939-1945” featuring all of Wilhelm Furtwangler’s radio broadcasts.

Next, I’d likely grab the 19 disc set “Karl Bohm: The Early Years” featuring more awe-inspiring music from the 30s to the 40s. Without question, I would absolutely need a recording which expresses the Divine more than any other: the Gustav Leonhardt recording of Bach’s Brandenburg Concertos. This is simply the best recording ever released, in my humble opinion.
I’d also need to bring “Herbert Von Karajan: The Early Recordings”. This 7-disc set comprises music recorded from 1938-1945 conducted the world’s greatest. Not only is Von Karajan the most highly admired conducter to grace our planet, he also never apologized for being a card-carrying member of the NSDAP.

Lastly, I’d clearly need to bring the recently released 35-disc set “The New Gustav Leonhardt Edition”. Hands down, the most prolific and inspired harpsichord player of the White race.
