“I have opted out of Signal for a number of reasons. One is, I am pretty much convinced that this network is subverted by various secret services. The creator of Signal, Moxie Marlinspike, has given quite unsatisfactory answers when asked about certain security features, or rather, misfeatures. Another is that I have no way to back up a conversation from Signal, so if I lose my phone, everything would be gone. I can only strongly recommend to ditch Signals altogether. I have stopped using it for the reasons outlined above.”

If they really want to talk to you they’ll install your app of choice, but yeah, for casual interactions, mind as well use what people use.

I’ve also been looking into Session as an anonymous Signal, but normies aren’t about changing apps every 3 months lol, so it’s still my main one.

‘Our safest bet is to assume that no information on any Internet-connected device will remain secure or private.’

Very true, this is how I will be operating going forward, and any service that asks for a phone number is suspect.

…So I may ditch Signal for https://simplex.chat/ …but still, assume that anything digital can be backdoor’d/pwned.

    Cheers!

    @Leo

    The pleasure is mine.

“I saw that TOR was a creation of DARPA, CIA, or something”

Originally yes, but so was the internet itself haha now it’s out of their control, unless they cut the undersea cables and such. It might nerf their own communication, though, despite the satellites.

“Our safest best is probably to just understand that no information on any Internet-connected device will remain secure or private.”

Pretty much. Treat the internet like you treat a loaded gun.

    Take care!

@AeonKnight over here with an enormous wealth of information, lol. I appreciate everything you shared, buddy.

I have never looked into it, but I saw that TOR was a creation of DARPA, CIA, or something – I can’t recall, and I also don’t know whether it’s truthful, although it’s likely something worthy of your attention to look into. I also heard about Matrix/Element being ideal for instant messaging. I personally use TutaMail, Signal, and Telegram – and I don’t know I’ll be using Telegram much longer.

Our safest best is probably to just understand that no information on any Internet-connected device will remain secure or private.

Another good comment. I had found mastodon in the past, but never ended up making an account.

I can’t speak on Minds — I remember it was promoted by Jordan Peterson lol so that made me completely disregard it as a proto Parler, fake-right platform, but as far as I can see, officially it’s legit: open-source and federated.

Mastodon is a very nice alternative to Twitter, especially now that Gab has shat the bed and banned TOR, but it’s not very normie-focused, even though it’s just as usable as anything else.

Signal requires a phone number to sign up, but the username allows you to keep it private. You can use it without any of the contacts knowing your number or having access to anything that can dox you, since it stores nothing and has proper encryption.

Proton is open-source as far as I know, but it’s still an email. It has that whole “servers in Switzerland” marketing going on, which just reeks of CIA to me. I still use it, but I practice common sense with what I use it for.

Some of the other good emails like Tutanota and RiseUp are also openly commie (because the “system is against them” lol), which in theory should still be fine due to them being open-source and encrypted, allowing anonymous sign ups, etc., but again, it’s still an email, so traffick is not perfect, and if anything gets stored at all or leaks, they’ll gladly throw right-wing users under the bus.

Good post, minds.com has recently become another decentralized platform so it is worth a look as well. I was always skeptical of Signal due to the the globalist art style and phone number requirement… and as far as I can tell a phone number is still required. What is the problem with Proton? I remember a rumour saying the traffic was routed through Tel Aviv, but that was all.

Any federated (decentralised) platforms are good.

Telegram is not ideal due to dodgy encryption, centralised servers, Dubai headquarters (and investment), offices in British territories, etc., but it’s where a lot of people on the Right interact, so just be mindful and practice some common sense op-sec.

Signal solves most of Telegram’s problems and with the recent addition of usernames instead of phone number, it can be used in pretty much the same way. Signal has also been audited by feds many times and provided zero info on users, because they simply don’t have it in the first place.

For completely anonymous platforms, anything using XMPP protocols. Using Matrix through Element is probably the most friendly for people unfamiliar.

All emails are unsafe, so keep that in mind and don’t send anything that can be used against you, even if it’s Proton or Tutanota. TOR emails are ok, but not really usable for most normies.

I2P has been working again, but I find I have to launch ‘StartI2PdBrowser’ several times before connection successfully.

Anonymous & (secure) pseudonymous (fast/digital) communications that are uncensored, untraceable, reliable, private/public, and (optionally) permanent are ESSENTIAL. Native integration with cryptocurrencies e.g. XMR is desirable.

WARNING, THE TRUE INTERNET IS NOT FOR CHILDREN NOR THE WEAK-WILLED:

How do I access the Phoenix Ascendant thread on BitChan?
    1. Visit https://i2pd.website/ and click on ‘Download I2PdBrowser.’
    2. Download the relevant file and extract/install it.
    3. Run it; a windowed Firefox instance should soon appear. DO NOT RESIZE IT! Browser fingerprinting is a possibility.
    4. You can monitor your I2P service by visiting http://127.0.0.1:7070/ in your ‘normal’ browser.
    5. Then simply copy/paste the following link into the address bar as per usual:
    http://bitchan.i2p/thread/BM-2cVPTGQ1MSPtx9QmpNeA69ePxJWEDVmULm/3375b9e42196
    6. You may have to complete a CAPTCHA.
    7. NEVER, EVER ENABLE JAVASCRIPT!
    8. Keep in mind that page loading takes longer on the Truenet, so be patient.
