InactiveAs From my earlier post I was planning on doing one on the right especially how they can be convinced as to our cause. Two factions of the right I was hoping to tackle were the “GDP crowd” (Might be less relevant in your country) and the cool minority crowd where they argue for the non-white minorities that they think think like them. While thinking about the second group I was also thinking about how the whole “Diversity is our strength. Migration is good (not-white migration) and thought how it could have grown.Grown being the primary word here the roots of such an ideal stretch way back but I was never able to find any universal origins that linked most nations.
I’m unable to find the root but I have been able to trace the point at which it became linked in our modern politics to a much more encompassing worldview. The 1980’s are upon the world and many of the western economies are suffering low economic growth (SA is under sanctions at this point but that is more focused on authoritarian practices. The 80’s is when the race thing would take off Globally)
So what we have to understand is a lot of people are looking for a solution to the problems facing them.So a lot of minorities begin to see this as an opportunity (There are minority action groups everywhere but not in great numbers). They say if you bring more of us over we can fill the employment gaps. What you have to remember though is that our governments knew that social strife could occur so they never planned to bring that many.Just enough to fill the gaps.So they bring over some workers and everything changes for the better so we decide you know what diversity might be good we should bring over more people and it all built up from there.
That is what most of us are told but there’s a darker truth. The two things mentioned preciously are not related. What actually happened is a lot of white workers retrained from other dying industries into fresh growing ones
So why don’t the politicians send them back then we may ask?.What you have to bear in mind is that in this time our politicians met with these minority group heads and often grew close and began to think that they were friends. And friends don’t betray friends and besides it’s only a little migration a few citizenships and the economy seems to be growing why change
By the 1990s most had realised their mistake but made the naïve decision that they could still salvage the situation in a way that would keep the cool minorities around. That is where we begin to see the start of the modern anti-immigration mainstream party that still brings in and grants citizenship to thousands. The 1990s is also the moment where we see a lot of non-white nations realise that they can make a lot off all these migrant groups now wandering about. They start their attacks slowly enough seeming like friends just a light criticism.
That is until the 2000’s where it becomes trying to influence politics abroad. Remittances has become a lucrative industry and not that many are in a rush to change that.At this point the politicians are either too deluded, too afraid or think they are above all things but the common man is starting to notice as his towns become slums and addicts fill the streets. That scares them more than any migrant so they need a fix.T
Enter Diversity is our strength. A slogan that covers all bases. You say our country is being damaged by the migrants?. Diversity is our strength. You don’t want the country to be weak or worse have that great strength go to someone else, do you?.The problem was at this time a lot of other nations that previously had little growth were hearing this slogan from the better off and thought they could give it a go (Most EE nations are at the equivalent of our 1990’s regardless of what they’re leaders may say in English)
This is when things truly began to fall and the past was rewritten to shape the future. We will always need to remember this lest our guard slips again
