I'm pretty easy to please. Any activity together can be fun, like a nice walk in the park or maybe taking archery or dance lessons. Escape rooms are fun puzzles and a great way to see how someone works through problems.

English/Irish Newfoundlander, descended from early West-Country English and South-East Irish colonial settlers to British North America.
I am interested in genealogy and history, especially as it relates to my ancestors’ arrival on the continent.
I read extensively and love cinema, especially vintage films and comedies.
I am not a particularly political person, but in today’s climate it seems increasingly difficult to avoid political issues. I enjoy political philosophy, but I find political praxis pretty vexing, so for the sake of my peace of mind, I concentrate on the things in life that are most useful in building me up as a person. I avoid most social media except to stay in touch with some friends.
I spent a lot of time in educational institutions and I’ve seen them becoming increasingly liberal. I’m glad to have my degrees and to be out of that environment.
Through this site, I hope to find a like-minded woman, to raise well-educated and upstanding children.
Bonus fun fact: I am an aspiring novelist.
There’s plenty more to know, so ask away.
January 2024
I took a break from the site, but have come back with fresh insights and a reinvigorated spirit.

- Things I am looking for in a person are:
-
Having a family is important to me, so my future wife would likewise want to have children and raise a family.
I’d like someone lighthearted, who is curious about life and who enjoys learning. As long as we’re on the same page value-wise, most everything else is negotiable. A pleasant smile and a calm demeanour go a long way to a happy home.
I am leaning towards homeschooling any future children. Over the past few years I’ve curated a library of books on a variety of topics, including geography, geology, biology, history, ecology, politics, mythology, literature (classics, Shakespeare, etc), technology, chemistry, genetics and more, especially as it relates to Newfoundland, Canada, Britain and the United States, so that my future children can get a good education while learning to understand and appreciate their ancestral home and people. Any books a significant other could add would always be appreciated.
I consider myself a moderately religious Christian. Though I was raised Catholic, I spent a lot of time in different phases of faith and faithlessness, seeking to understand the different lessons hidden within the Bible. I am now non-denominational and currently do not attend a church, but I read the Bible semi-regularly. It is not mandatory, but I would like my potential S.O. to also be a Christian. I understand people have different experiences with religion so I understand if we’re not in the same place in faith.
Please no recreational drugs or smoking. I find it difficult to be around people who smell of smoke.
If you can cook or are open to learning, that’s a big plus.
- The one thing I am most passionate about:
-
It’s hard to say what I’m most passionate about as I have many interests, but perhaps I will say film.
Since I first saw Jurassic Park in cinemas, I’ve been fascinated with cinematography and story-telling through film. Sadly film isn’t quite what it used to be, but there are gems in every generation. I love watching movies of all types and thinking about them from a cinematographic standpoint, but sometimes it’s also nice to just turn the brain off and enjoy a good film for what it is.
I’m also very passionate about my own family history and the history of the British Empire. I’m an avowed Anglophile. I intend to travel to the UK one day to trace my English roots as best I can.
2024 Update:
I have started the new year with a resolution to improve myself in every dimension so that I can be the best husband and ultimately father I can be. So, right now I am most passionate about setting and achieving a few new goals for myself.
